Fourteen-year-old Oda von Siering is witnessing the end of an era at Baltic east coast of summer 1914. Before World War I breaks loose, the Baltic States, which are German coined but belong to the Russian empire, are about to fall apart. While her father is buying dead bodies of Estonian soldiers from the Russians to dissect them in his medical laboratory, Oda is hiding injured Estonian anarchist “Schnaps” in their attic to nurse him.
