JONATHAN: Recommendation „Particularly Valuable“ - written on 22.06.2016

JONATHAN was awarded by the FBW German Film and Media Review with the recommendation „particularly valuable“.

Excerpt from the jury:
"Piotr J. Lewandowski’s strong debut demands a lot from its audience. The film accompanies Burkhardt and Jonathan through the complete process of the disease and the painful parting. But thanks to the very sensitive approach, using calm images and soulful moments between the characters, it deeply touches the viewers.
The fitting and beautifully endowed farm scenery serves as a backdrop where the characters are isolated from the outside world. Their interaction resembles a chamber play, where they get involved and clash with each other. This atmosphere is emphasized by excellent camerawork and an atmospheric score. The film carefully takes its time to introduce its characters to its viewers, it doesn’t shy away from portraying them a little awkward, but little by little reveals their true feelings.
JONATHAN is a terrific debut. A film that touches without being maudlin. And a film that tells so much with only a few words."
